The Masked Marvels (English)
The Masked Marvels formed in 2006 as a quartet with clear references to Rock’n’Roll and American rootmusic, unlike most other garage and rock’n’roll bands, They introduced the use of a tuba instead of the electric bass guitar (or doublebass)coupled with trombone, drums and guitar; than jumped into the local Italian underground scene with a sound quite abrasive, unforgiving and unwieldy. In the same year they released their first work “Old Farts and Young Tarts” for the renowed Italian indie label Billies Bones in Aprilia

Actual line up: Doc Looksharp on guitar/trumpet, Mic Roma at the Tuba /elect.bass, Danni LaBarbera on drums.
Sound : a tight construction, polyrhythmic sometimes deliberately “crippled”; most of the compositions ‘are in the form of catchy and melodic songs disturbed by deliberate dissonances, drifting from avantgarde to noise and sometimes ending in raw chaos, the audience is led ,on occasion, to appreciate and feel more rewarding the mere noise experience rather than the melodic part of the composition.
The Masked Marvels do not bother to file into a particular genre of music been it garage, jazz, rock and roll etc etc … in this way they are not very “reassuring” for their listeners

I Masked Marvels si formano nel 2006,un quartetto Rock’n’Roll con chiari riferimenti alla rootmusic Americana; diversamente dalla maggior parte delle altre band garage e rock’n’roll, introducono nella formazione l’utilizzo di un basso Tuba al posto del basso elettrico (o contrabbasso), accompagnato da trombone, batteria e chitarra;I Masked Marvels portano cosi’ in giro per I locali uno show dal suono piuttosto abrasivo, spietato e ingombrante. Nello stesso anno esce il primo lavoro “old Farts and Young Tarts” per l’etichetta Billies Bones di Aprilia (ITA).

Suono : una costruzione serrata, poliritmica a volte volutamente “zoppa”,le composizioni il piu’ delle volte sono in forma di canzone orecchiabile disturbate da dissonanze intenzionali, derive rumoriste e sperimentali ,l’ascoltatore in certe occasioni è portato ad apprezzare e ritenere piu’ appagante il lato rumorista piuttosto che la parte melodica della intera composizione.
I Masked Marvels non si preoccupano di entrare in un particolare genere musicale o essere catalogati garage, rock’n’roll jazz etc etc…in questo senso si puo’ dire che siano poco rassicuranti per chi li ascolta.
